A thermodynamically consistent elastoviscoplastic phase-field framework for structural damage in PTFE

چکیده
Deformation in polymers is highly dependent on molecular structures and motion relaxation mechanisms, which are influenced by temperature mechanical load history. These features imply that some models can fit for specific classes of not others; moreover, these also include several non-linearities, turns out to be challenging computational simulation. This work develops simulates a thermal-structural phase-field model the polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) polymer. The constitutive multimechanism used considers non-isothermal non-linear elastoviscoplastic model, able represent elastic interactions, viscoplastic flow from polymer segments. Material parameters complex rheological addressed, through genetic algorithm, adjust curves simulated stress-strain experiments available literature. Results curves, followed rupture, ranging -50° C 150° plotted comparison with experimental results, presenting reasonable fit.

On thermodynamically consistent schemes for phase field equations
This paper addresses the issue of thermodynamically consistent derivations of field equations governing nonisothermal processes with diffuse interfaces and their implications for interface conditions in the associated sharp interface theories. We operate within the framework of extended irreversible thermodynamics, allowing gradient terms to be present not only in the free energy and entropy de...
متن کاملA quantitative and thermodynamically consistent phase-field interpolation function for multi-phase systems
The aimed properties of the interpolation functions used in quantitative phase-field models for two-phase systems do not extend to multi-phase systems. Therefore, a new type of interpolation functions is introduced that has a zero slope at the equilibrium values of the non-conserved field variables representing the different phases and allows for a thermodynamically consistent interpolation of ...
متن کامل"Entropic" Solutions to a Thermodynamically Consistent PDE System for Phase Transitions and Damage
In this paper we analyze a PDE system modelling (non-isothermal) phase transitions and damage phenomena in thermoviscoelastic materials. The model is thermodynamically consistent: in particular, no small perturbation assumption is adopted, which results in the presence of quadratic terms on the right-hand side of the temperature equation, only estimated in L1. The whole system has a highly nonl...
متن کاملA thermodynamically consistent kinetic framework for binary nucleation.
The traditional theory for binary homogeneous nucleation follows the classical derivation of the nucleation rate in the supposition of a hypothetical constrained-equilibrium distribution in the calculation of the cluster evaporation rate. This model enables calculation of the nucleation rate, but requires evaluation of the cluster distribution and cluster properties for an unstable equilibrium ...
متن کاملModelling plasticity of unsaturated soils in a thermodynamically consistent framework
Constitutive equations of unsaturated soils are often derived in a thermodynamically consistent framework through the use a unique ’effective’ interstitial pressure. This later is naturally chosen as the space averaged interstitial pressure. However, experimental observations have revealed that two stress state variables were needed to describe the stressstrain-strength behaviour of unsaturated...
